ITACO S.r.l. acquired the order for the power electrical equipment supply for the “braking motor” command and control of the first (roller) dynamic test bench for high speed locomotives.
The test bench, the first in the world having such features, will be installed inside an anechoic chamber.
The system will stand near Florence, in Osmannoro precisely, and the starting is planned within the first half of 2009. The supply of all the testing structure has been entrusted by RFI to SIMPRO S.p.A. in Turin.
The system, equipped of IGBT converters of “ONDA MODULAR DRIVE SYSTEM” series (Cubettos), is to control 12 motors (nr. 2 motors each axle) each one of 900 kW at 250 rpm, with field weakening up to 1350 rpm.
The system specifications require demanding characteristics:
low inertia motors
Diameter motors limited dimensions
Estimated torque precision (without torque transducer) better than 3% in dynamics, for all testing conditions
This is for a system which needs a respectable passing band with a field weakening 5 times over the nominal speed.
The questioned biggest converter motors constructors in the world, have not satisfied all the features required.
Only ITACO S.r.l. has been able to convince the RFI advisors (Milan and Florence Universities), the final purchaser, on the validity of its technology essentially based on the special technology application which 5 years ago gave birth to the REEL SSP motors series.
